About Kari Elizabeth W.

Welcome To "The Wordsmith's Edge!"

MY NAME IS KARI ELIZABETH W. - author, creative writer, blogger, podcaster, wife, mom, entrepreneur and book publisher! Aside from working on my career, I am also a hobby home chef and enjoy blogging our creations, showcasing that you can create incredible meals even on a budget!

(Find that on www.ournewlivingnow.com on our new Cooking It Up Old School blog.)

Writing has been something I have enjoyed from a very young age. Growing up I enjoyed writing papers for school, research papers in High School and College along with writing songs, poems and more. Many years ago I had a lifestyle blog with a little over 300 subscribers, which to most that is not a lot, but to me it was a fun little community! Life took its twists, turns, ups and downs so writing most definitely went to the back burner. What I have realized since then is that writing is healing. It helps me to process the words on paper that I can't always, nor necessarily want to, articulate out loud. My desire to help others do the same through our publishing company is a passion and driving force today.

"Being an author means giving a voice to the voiceless as much as a new world to an imagination."

Writing again was something that began to be an unending nagging feeling. To be quite honest, I don't believe I am sure where this is all headed but I am continuing this journey to find out along with you!

I began writing again after my youngest son walked into the kitchen carrying all of his stuffed animals. Elizabeth Mae Wolfram, my daughter, had been helping along that nagging feeling by saying I should start writing again. The day my son walked into the kitchen, Elizabeth said, "Mom we should write a book about him and all his stuffed animals!" I said, "Let's!" After she picked her jaw up off the ground I said, "Let's start today." She was ecstatic. We had our first children's book written completely in 2 days. You can get that here: By Day and Night

About "By Day and Night"

This book is designed for ages 5-12. We had so much fun writing the content as well as designing the illustrations, but we needed someone to actually draw up the ideas in our heads. We were blessed to be introduced to a digital artist through one of Elizabeth's author friends and she is our hired illustrator still to this day! Not only did this artist create beautifully done illustrations that capture each pivotal moment, but she somehow added the tiny details you see that we weren't even sure how to explain.

In our children's book you'll see daytime stories followed by night time sleepy poems that tie into the story lines as well. Each adventure is exciting and helps kids (and their parents) use their imagination to explore racing through a West Texas desert, flying into space and more. There are a few sweet life lessons in there that tug at your heart too.

About My Mission

When I began DHK Creations in 2011, it began as a jewelry business where I created memory pieces for moms that had babies in NICU as well as those moms that endured a loss. It wasn't until Elizabeth Mae Wolfram began writing "Collector," that I began thinking of how we could help support her in her dream of becoming an author. We researched publishing companies extensively. We compared what they offered, what their prices were and the fact that she would not retain the rights to her book through many of them which was something we wanted and thought was best for her. She began looking into self publishing and in order to protect her productions, as she was a minor at the time, we created what you see today as DHK Creations & Publications, LLC. Elizabeth Mae Wolfram is my co-founder and lead formatter. My role is to launch the authors on the marketing side while educating them on the business side of becoming an author. We will soon begin offering classes!

My mission is simple. I want to help independent authors of clean content get their books published while keeping 100% of their rights and royalties. As a mom who would get disappointed anytime we would shop through a store, purchase what looked like a Christian book then get home and realize it was anything but, it was also inherently important that any book we publish is transparent. We want parents to know what their child or young teen was reading. This is our standard and we are paving the way through the services we provide you can't get anywhere else.

Not only do we help authors get published, but my role is the actual launch of the authors with photography, branding, website design, social media integration, intro to SEO, teaser trailers and posts prior to launch introducing them to the world. We make an incredible team and work hard for our authors with several successful launches behind us now with more already in the works. We have a high sensitivity to detail, are as hands on or hands off as authors need, provide an exceptionally high standard of customer service and our hearts are our driving force behind our why.

"We are helping authors catch their dreams one sentence at a time!"

For more on that, visit www.dhkcreations.com. Be sure to follow us on IG @dhkcreationsofficial

If you'd like to hear some interviews with authors who love clean fiction and have some amazing stories, look up The Wordsmith's Edge podcast on Spotify. I host this with my daughter, Elizabeth Mae Wolfram, and we have such a blast talking with these amazing self-published authors!

I hope you follow along, not only for my blog, but to keep up with my journey as I continue to write more books, create journals and blog my way through life! What am I working on currently?

I have a journal in the works.

I am also beginning my Christmas book about Mrs. Claus! This won't be your typical Christmas book and this gives you an insight into who she was before she became THE Mrs. Claus you know her as today! This will be geared for older teens/young adults with some pretty intense scenes from a background you'd never imagine her having. She was fierce.

To YOU who is thinking, "I could never write a book," oh yes you can. You should.
